Wheat Free Tempura Batter    CD   Veg   MC ACC   5mins

Makes approx 420ml/14fl.oz.  Cold  Vegetarian   Main Course Accompaniment   Dairy Gluten Wheat Free   Substitute


1 Egg, beaten

50g/2oz Cornflour

75g/3oz Rice Flour

1/4 teasp Xanthan Gum

1/2 teasp GF Baking Powder

240ml/8fl.oz. Ice Cold Carbonated Water


1. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.

2. Place the beaten egg and water in a large mixing bowl and mix well then fold in the dry ingredients and mix to make a thin batter. Do not over-mix.

To use : dip lightly floured slices or batons of vegetables, seafood or meats (not more than 1cm/1/2 inch thick) into the batter and deep fry in oil 190C, 375F for 1-3 minutes only, depending on the food, until lightly golden brown and crispy. Serve immediately.
