 A Weekday Menu Recipe


Molasses Chicken    HT  MC  35mins



Serves 4     Hot  Poultry  Main Course  Dairy Free  Eggless




1 tbsp Oil
1/2 Large Onion, thinly sliced

1/2 Large Onion, finely chopped

2 tbsp Soy Sauce

4 Large Chicken Thighs, skinned and boned
1 tbsp Black Treacle or Dark Molasses





1. Cut the chicken into bite size pieces. Set aside.


2. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan, add the chopped onions and sauté until they just begin to colour. 


3. Add 1 tablespoon of the Soy sauce, mix well then add the chicken and mix to coat.


4.  Add the remaining soy sauce, molasses and sliced onion, stir well then cover and cook over a medium/high heat so it's bubbling for about 15 minutes, stirring from time to time, or until the chicken is cooked through.


Serving Suggestions :


Rice and Peas,  Mixed Salad

Key techniques

Chop to – To cut into pieces of approximately the same size.
Brown  to  -  To fry in very shallow  fat  over a high heat in order to colour the food and seal in the juices.

Sauté  - The cooking of food in a small amount of fat, preferably in a single layer, until it browns and softens. It is important not to overfill the pan.
