Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas mark 4 and grease 3-4 baking sheets.
Place the molasses, sugar and butter in a pan and bring slowly to the boil. Boil
for 1 minute then remove from the heat.
Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder then add to the pan and stir well. Place the pan in hot water
to prevent the batter from drying up.
Drop quarter teaspoons of the mixture onto the baking sheets, spacing 7.5cm/3inches apart as they will spread during
cooking. Bake in the cover for 10 minutes.
Cool slightly then remove from the trays with a palette knife and transfer to a wire rack and cool.
