Herby Lamb Burgers

Serves 4

1 Onion, very finely chopped or grated
1 Egg, beaten
450g/1lb Minced Lamb
1 Stick Celery, very finely chopped
1 tbsp Tomato Paste
1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
2 teasp Dried Mixed Herbs
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
50g/2oz Fresh White Breadcrumbs


1. Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands until well combined.

2. Divide the mixture into 8 and form each portion into a ball. Use your hands, pressing the mixture together firmly. Turn each ball onto a lightly floured surface and press down with the palm of your hand to form burgers.


3. Cook over hot coals for 5-8 minutes each side or until cooked through.

Serving Suggestions


Serve on their own with a hot barbecue sauce or in a bun with garnishes such as shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickled gherkin slices, mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise.

Add some finely chopped chillies for a bit of heat

Substitute the celery with sweet pepper

Using a hamburger press as shown above, cuts down on the amount of time it takes to make each burger and ensures all your burgers are the same size and so cook at the same time
