Minty Lamb Burgers

Serves 4

Recipe Tags:  Hot  Meat Herbs Vegetables Barbecues Lamb Main Course

Ingredients
1 Onion, very finely chopped or grated
1 Egg, beaten
450g/1lb Minced Lamb
1 tbsp Tomato Paste
1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
2 teasp Freshly Chopped Mint
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
50g/2oz Fresh White Breadcrumbs
 
Instructions

1. Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands until well combined.

2. Divide the mixture into 8 and form each portion into a ball. Use your hands, pressing the mixture together firmly. Turn each ball onto a lightly floured surface and press down with the palm of your hand to form burgers.

3. Cook over hot coals for 5-8 minutes each side or until cooked through.

 

Serving Suggestions

 

Serve on their own with a hot barbecue sauce or in a bun with garnishes such as shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickled gherkin slices, mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise
 

Tips, Options and Substitutions

 

Can also be cooked conventionally by grilling or frying for around the same length of time.

Using a hamburger press as shown, cuts down on the amount of time it takes to make each burger and ensures all your burgers are the same size and so cook at the same time
