Jack Cheese Burgers

Serves 4 (8 small burgers)

Ingredients
450g/1lb Minced Beef

1 small Onion, finely chopped

1 tbsp Tomato Paste
Salt and Black Pepper

A little Oil

4 slices of Monterey Jack Cheese

Instructions


1. Place all the ingredients apart from the cheese in a large mixing bowl and mix until well blended, squidging the mixture together with your hands.


2. Shape the mixture into 8 small burgers, brush with a little oil then place oiled side down on the grill and cook over medium hot coals for 3 - 6 minutes per side depending on how well done you like your meat.

 

3. 3 minutes before your burgers are ready, place a slice of cheese on top of each and finishing cooking. The cheese will slightly melt.

 

 

Serving Suggestions

 

Serve on their own or in a bun with garnishes such as shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickled gherkin slices, mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise.

Use any hard cheese you have to hand such as cheddar, double  Gloucester or Cheshire

Substitute the tarragon with thyme

Using a hamburger press as shown on the left, cuts down on the amount of time it takes to make each burger and ensures all your burgers are the same size and so cook at the same time
